Sailor Punk. <Eng>

ROTTO & BICHAS: Sailor Punk has undoubtedly been a project whose driving force has been to have fun and experiment with the most bizarre things we can think of. The future is uncertain, but the balance lies in being able to enjoy and make the most of the opportunity to exchange with new people and get to know different places.

Sebas and I have been playing together since 2017 playing in different projects, especially Hardcore Punk or Dark Punk, but always with the idea of eventually recording bands and making our own recordings. In 2022 we began recording some bands that we had at the time, beginning the process of making recordings of increasingly better quality and focused on an audience that did not have the budget for a studio recording. We have published some of our own recordings and exchanged noise with different labels from both Colombia and other countries.

Having been playing together for several years now and having had the opportunity to participate in different projects, we have always had a great connection in both creating projects and giving them direction. The fact that it’s only the two of us makes it quite easy to make decisions, but it is a challenge in creation and when playing live.

Previously we had the idea of calling this project ‘Konami,’ but we eventually changed it to Sailor Punk. Our identity, both sonically and aesthetically, has been strongly influenced by Eyaculación Post Mortem and Sistema de Entretenimiento, these two being determining references for Sailor Punk in our first scene. Exploring the idea, we have found other references and genres that we have found fun to investigate and involve in the project and the performance… From DnB to Harsh Noise, taking some samples from video games and movies as well.

The noise we make is based a lot on pain, hate, and resentment. A silent cry that does not stop but evolves, giving rise to a fight against the ego of each inconsequential being.

Personally, I think that Colombia is going through a very interesting moment on a musical level, speaking specifically of Bogotá. There are quite a few references to our sound and great projects doing incredible things. I believe that due to the socio-economic conditions and the cultural breakdown that the world is going through, Bogotá is a city plagued by dark experiences and great ideas that are the product of them. The visceral nature of a gigantic city with the greatest contrasts generates consequences that have allowed us to see the life and death of great ideas in many different places.

Bogotá is currently a place that welcomes a fairly broad exchange at a cultural level, being able to meet and see bands live from quite far away, bands that we have always liked. Without a doubt being aware of events, making bands, and participating in concerts has been a great opportunity to meet incredible people in many different places.
